About
Slowpoke Productions

We made no effort to appeal to humorless clients

It started with a curious engineer

In the early 1990s, electrical engineer Ginger Chien—driven by curiosity and a love for optimized design—created a physics demonstration toy called the ROMP (Randomly Oscillating Magnetic Pendulum).

What started as a personal project quickly gained a following. The ROMP found fans in the Science Department at Bellevue Community College. Soon, Ginger’s evenings were spent hand-assembling hundreds of units to meet the demand from college professors and specialty toy stores across the Pacific Northwest.

To manage this growing hobby, Slowpoke Productions was born—a formal business entity with a purposefully playful name.

Slowpoke Productions has remained a "team of one" with the flexibility to support a diverse range of personal, business, and community interests:

  • Technology & Design: Providing web design services.

  • Philanthropy: Refurbishing abandoned thrift-store Macintosh computers for students and adults in need.

  • Creative Services: Serving as the management hub for Ginger’s inspirational storytelling and DEI coaching.

  • Live Entertainment: Acting as the agent for the 80s cover band, The Nasty Habits.
